SKYWATER DREAMS
WelcomeLast update - Aug 2007SkyWater Dreams is a small collaborative group consisting of several multi-talented individuals:
Our intention is not only to produce films that are entertaining, but also to enrich political, spiritual and educational films with humor and insight. SkyWater Dreams opts to use the pure forms of drama, documentary and dance to delve into issues of humanity. SkyWater Dreams' first three films - Smorgasbord, Pioneers and Dueling Lotus - represent that vision. As Carolyn Chan, Production Administrator, writes in the press release for 'Smorgasbord: "It was created to appeal to alternative audiences in their 20s and 30s who want to reach out to humanity that transcends stereotypes, to explore the unknown of the spirit world, and to believe fantasy has a place in banality." "And for people who like to laugh," adds Farnsworth. SkyWater Dreams also intends to make dance more accessible for new audiences, using choreographic form with dialogue or narration and filmic images, as done in 'Dueling Lotus' and in their most recent film 'La Esencia de mi Madre'. SkyWater Dreams had to set aside 'Pioneers', a project which had triggered interest but no money. One of the pioneers was the late vaudevillian, Fran Dowie, who was documented in Farnsworth's radio documentary as well as in her short video. SkyWater Dreams has endless footage and audio of Dowie-the last footage shot August 2006. "Canadians have to stop thinking Canadian history is unimportant and document these storytellers before they're all gone!" says Farnsworth. In 2004 'Smorgasbord', a feature length film, and 'Dueling Lotus', a short film, was screened at the prestigious New York International Independent Film and Video Festival. Farnsworth attended and presented her films in three cities: Los Angeles, New York and Las Vegas. Our most recent production is 'La Esencia de mi Madre'. Thank you for visiting SkyWater Dreams. |
